Here’s my thought

I used to love digging through Product Hunt for inspiration and discovering cool new apps. It’s part of my craft as a UX designer, but also I’m nosey and excited to see what everyone is building.

That was until maybe 2 years ago. Something’s changed and it never felt the same anymore.

If you take a quick look at Product Hunt home page now, something weird is going on and it’s not hard to notice.

Why are there so many AI tools?

AI is dominating the chart and I couldn’t find any segment of the market that hasn’t tried to cram AI in or at least sprinkle some on top.

Does everyone really need AI in every corner of their life?

For many tech workers, it feels like we’re all stuck in a race we didn’t even sign up for and no one knows where we’re going. Maybe that’s why we’re so tired and uninspired.

Have we forgotten who we’re building for and what they actually need?

Maybe not, but it feels like we’re stuck choosing between building for real humans and “delivering values to shareholders” (whatever the fuck that even means🙃).

This might sound like just another rant, which it is. But you can think of this as my little corner of the internet where I rant, question, learn, and probably rant again.

Anyway, thanks for being here! ✨
